Platinum Mod
Platinum gear fills the long gap between iron and diamond. It lasts far longer than iron, enchants better than diamond and uses an ore you can find in a single evening. Here is how each piece performs and where it fits in your progression.
Where Platinum Fits
Think of platinum as the mid-game upgrade. It arrives earlier than diamond for most players and carries you comfortably into the Nether.
Compared With Iron
Platinum tools last roughly four and a half times longer than iron and mine noticeably faster. Armor offers one extra protection point on the chestplate and leggings.
Compared With Diamond
Diamond still wins on raw durability and protection. Platinum closes the gap with higher enchantability, which means better enchantments from the same level cost.
Platinum Tools
The mod adds a pickaxe, axe, shovel, hoe and sword. All share the same material tier and mining level as diamond, so they can mine obsidian.
Pickaxe and Axe
These are the pieces you will use most. With Efficiency and Unbreaking, a platinum pickaxe comfortably handles a full branch mining session between repairs.
Sword
The sword deals the same base damage as iron plus half a heart, with a slightly faster attack recovery. Pair it with Sharpness for a reliable mid-game weapon.
Platinum Armor
A full set gives strong protection for its cost and a subtle cool-grey look that works well with most resource packs.
Protection Values
Helmet and boots match iron, while the chestplate and leggings add one point each. A full set with Protection IV reduces most mob damage to a manageable level.
Toughness and Knockback
Platinum armor has a small toughness value, so heavy hits hurt a little less than with iron. It has no knockback resistance, which remains a netherite feature.
Enchanting and Repair
High enchantability is platinum’s standout trait. You will see more multi-enchantment rolls at the table than with diamond.

- Tools: Efficiency, Unbreaking, Fortune or Silk Touch, Mending
- Sword: Sharpness, Looting, Unbreaking, Mending
- Armor: Protection, Unbreaking, Mending, plus Feather Falling on boots
Repairing Platinum Gear
Combine a damaged item with platinum ingots in an anvil, or rely on Mending for hands-off repair.
Should You Upgrade?
